In tiefer VerbundenheitKarl & deine Vereinskollegen

All the pagodas and tents have been deconstructed and the last truck-trains loaded with construction material and grandstand elements have left St. Radegund. What remains is the idyllic and impressive “Schwabenlandl” as we know it and love it. On this spot on earth the World Championships have been staged and caused regional and national sensation. The World Championship venue only left minor reworking parts and only a few spots remember the huge spectacle. We can be very proud, that we crowned the little St. Radegund to the Mecca of Iceland Horse sports. Thousands of guests from various countries came to St. Radegund to celebrate the World Championships 2011. Great atmosphere and fabulous performances by the riders and their horses could be seen not only on the final day, but also during the week true sporting fireworks were shown. Many horses were incredibly strong in moving (176 horses were at the start) and also highly talented riders in this international field showed impressive performances. This opinion was shared by sports director of FEIF Marko Mazeland: "The performances that were shown at this World Championships were amazing, almost unique. The marks speak for themselves. So many high markes were not be awarded in each sport tests ever. Very good was also the quality of the tracks on the Islandpferde Reithof Piber. We have never had such good tracks at a World Championship! Congratulations to Karl Piber for this great facility." During the closing ceremony Marko Mazeland gave in his speech, the best mark of 10.0 for the first-class tracks.

Now, all temporary buildings on the Islandpferde Reithof Piber, and back out all fields and areas in the vicinity have been brought to originality. Therefore many hard-working, helping hands were needed. A very special thanks to all volunteers who have demonstrated tireless dedication, even after the World Championships. On the Islandpferde Reithof Piber again daily business returned. So Karl Piber and his team were already busy few weeks after the event with the young horses work, riding lessons, training services and other administrative work. All guests of the Islandpferde Reithof Piber feel very honoured to use the World Championships tracks now: "It's great to ride on the WM tracks, where a few weeks ago the top stars showed World Championshiph performances." You can feel it: the good spirit of the magic gaits. Of course the World Championship is still in everybody’s mind and inspires every visitor and guest of the Islandpferde Reithof Piber.

The organiser of the World Championship Karl Piber sums up statisfied: “To organise a World Championship on the owned facilities was a great challenge for my young, engaged and dynamic organisation team and me. It was an outstanding honour to arrange this event on the Islandpferde Reithof Piber in Austria. My thanks go not only to sponsors and national as well as international associations, the community and the Federal Land of Upper Austira but also to my organising committee and the numerous volunteers who made this event, due to their sedulous assignment, happen at all.” says Karl Piber and completes: “Thank you, also to the international umbrella association, the FEIF, for the good cooperation.”
By carrying out this event in Austria we could set a big and important step locally in the development of the high profile of the Icelandic horses. Also with press reactions we should be more than satisfied and also the feedback that came in via e-mail or phone is convincing.
In addition the Austrian WC-organiser is stating:”Unfortunately there are also some negative messages – mainly in specialised press. Strongly subjective and emotional opinions were served as story angle in order to cast a damning light on the entire World Championship. These announcements come up with missing facts and simply with missing background knowledge of outsiders.”

But the energetic competition - organiser doesn’t get deterred by this. For the Icelandic horse sports Karl Piber is always aiming to fulfil rider’s and horse’s needs in the best way and describes finally: “Constructive criticism can only cheer an organiser on and the constant improvement as a competition venue should be our goal. Also in the future we’d like to welcome international guests and riders on our proven facilities. After all, lots of sportsmen should have the chance to ride on tracks with the excellent mark of 10,0 !”
