Guidelines for volunteers
During the event there will be lots of volunteers dealing with various assignments. To guarantee a smooth process we set up guidelines to get straight what you can expect from us and what we expect from our volunteers. If you’re interested to be part of our staff during the World Championship it will be necessary to be aware of our guidelines so please read them carefully.
Volunteers
The organisational committee will accept you as a volunteer under the following conditions:
- You have signed a contract as a volunteer for the World Championship and
- You are working on the assigned duties for at least 3 days or 25 hours.
The face of the World Championship
As a volunteer you represent the face of the World Championships. Therefore a friendly and obliging appearance is mandatory. At the same time you’re able to understand people’s point of view, but at the same time you need to look after the World Championship’s interests. Our volunteers should appear neat and should always wear the prescribed clothes during your working time.
Responsibility
We expect from our volunteers a high level of responsibility. This means that you
- execute your duties as good as possible
- follow instructions
- do not consume alcohol
- appear freshly and rested on your working days.
Please bear in mind that being a volunteer means that you can’t watch competitions during your working time.
Availability during the event
n case you’re interested in supporting us, we’d require at least 25 working hours or 3 working days from our volunteers. You’ll work according to a schedule, that informs you about time, place and kind of work. You need to cover at least 3, max. 9 working hours per day. As there’s a 24h-support needed, also nightshifts might be required from you. As far as possible the organisation will try to meet the volunteer’s wishes or requirements.
Free catering
On their working days our volunteers will be catered with free food and refreshments (during the event in the volunteer’s tent). Food or drinks can be also consumed outside the venue at the volunteer’s own costs.
Volunteer’s stand
The stands for our helpers are open for all volunteers, also if you’ve got a day off. In case of bottlenecks in other stands, the paying audience always takes precedence over the seats of volunteers. This is rather unlikely during the week but could come up unless during the finals on Saturday and Sunday.
Free space on the campsite or gym
All volunteers have the possibility to camp on the volunteer’s campsite. This offer is also valid for the ones that will support us before and after the event!
Rules for the World Championships
The rules for the world Championships are valid on the venue of this event. This means that the volunteers need to grant security’s instructions at any time.
